My Thoughts

Hello, I'm not really in a blogging mode tonight, but I just want to share my thoughts. I was in Ayala Center with the kids this afternoon. We were just so happy to see the big taurpaulin poster hovering over the mall's fountain area. It was about the "Suessical the Musical" a play adapted from the Cat in the Hat all-time favorite children's tale by Dr. Suess. I was waiting for my turn to be served at the information booth, where tickets for the said play can be secured, when two couples caught the attention of the lady in front of me in the cue.

Lady: I don't like what the shirt that the guy is wearing
( Looking at me and her companion)
...I couldn't help but look at the guy she was referring to

ME: Oh yes, I agree with you, it's very degrading
Lady: How could he dare to wear such beside his girlfriend?
ME: And how come the girlfriend accept such intolerable act?
Lady: mao jud...

Looking at what the guy was wearing, it's a navy blue shirt with yellow print that goes " I'M WITH STUPID ---->" and the girl beside him was his girlfriend ( I just assumed looking at their lovey-dovey gestures at each other.)

Tsk...tsk...tsk... wala pa gani nagminyo, wala na ang respect unsaon na lang ug magkadayon? Basin magpaprint na pud ug lain shirt " IM WITH ______"

Just a simple reminder for all the couples out there...

1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

THE SCARS OF LIFE

I just want to share this forwarded email from a dear friend, Mommy Fe. These are worth pondering on...

"Love is when God became man."

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house.

In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could.

Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his father. It was too late. Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.

From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the father,

but the father was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father ' s fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved.

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Dad wouldn ' t let go"

You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let you go. In the midst of your struggle, He ' s been there holding on to you.

The Scripture teaches that God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That ' s when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He did not and

will not ever let you go.

Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her life and what they are going through.

Never judge another person ' s scars, because you don ' t know how they got them. Also, it is so important that we are not selfish, to receive the blessings of these messages, without forwarding them to someone else.

Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them, too - enough to not let them go.

Happy Birthday, Baby Love

As I'm typing this, the clock is about to strike midnight. I'm hoping to get done by the time it's officially October 3, my Baby Love, Frances Clare's 6th birthday. I just hope she gets to read this blog post by the time she's interested in reading blogs already. I just want her to know that Mommy and Daddy couldn't thank God enough for giving us such a bubbly girl like her. We couldn't forget that joyful day she came to this world through me ( via caesarian section at that). Our first meeting was very unforgettable. From the time I was lying down on the operating table at 1:00pm till the time she was pulled from my tummy at 1:10pm, I was eyeing on what was going on the whole time, so excited to meet her. It was a big feat for me already having to brave the sight of scalpels, blood, seeing my tummy opened, and all. For me, this was a different kind of meeting after having pre-eclampsia during Jeremy's birth. That time, I was under general anaesthesia and was fully unaware of what happened then. And though, we were equally happy when I gave birth to Kuya Jeremy, it was only during Frances' birth when I was fully aware and was there to welcome her into this world. Baby love, please know that the doctor immediately noticed your cute dimples after a few minutes you came out from my tummy and exclaimed, "Pretty, pretty!!!" That's how you are and will always be. Happy Birthday Frances Clare! We love you!

Look-Alike Meter

Go figure how I would look like 20 years from now, hehehe...

And for my kids...I tried to use the look-alike meter to determine who looked like whom? When we were still BF/GF, many people would say we look alike. My pupils in Sacred Heart School would even refer to Hubert as my twin, and were even surprised when I told them that I'm getting married to the man on the picture on top of my office table. One pupil really reacted " Whaaat?!? You're marrying your twin?" hahahaha...
Now the result would really prove that we do really look-alike ...well almost :) It simply shows that our facial features complement each other.

Though Jeremy looks like his dad by 5%, it's a very thin line between looking like me or his dad... :)

Unplug!!!

Moments ago, I just made a pledge, hope you will too.

I signed up and pledged to:

* Unplug my computer, TV, DVD player, fans, and other home appliances when they are not in use.

* Make sure they are not on stand-by mode, otherwise they’ll continue to consume electricity and energy even when you are not using them. Consuming more energy than necessary translates to more carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants!

Such a simple gesture but would really make a big difference if we start it with our own homes. Hope you'll sign up too :)

Feel Good Music

My cousin and I have been looking forward to this "Songs of Love and Healing" cd of Kris Aquino since the time she announced it over her show. Well, eventhough it has been released already, I still couldn't find the time to go to the mall to grab my own copy. Good thing I chanced upon this site while bloghopping. Thanks for uploading this on the net. It's pure coincidence that the song Healing which I featured in my earlier post is included in this album too. Yayyy!! I recommend this album, it is such a feel good playlist, soothing to the ears and to the heart as well. Happy listening!!!

PS Just concentrate on the songs though, you'll find some of Kris' narration very funny, hehehehe...

Healing

To see a person healed is such a wondrous sight to behold. The process of healing does not follow the dictates of time, it just comes naturally...it is not something that should be pushed, enforced, otherwise all efforts will just go to waste...

During the past days, I have been witness to how people close to me have sweetly reaped the fruits of putting faith in God to aide in each one's healing process...

A friend of mine was almost in the verge of seeing her family apart due to her husband's physical, verbal, and emotional abuse on her and her kids. But with fervent prayers by our circle of friends, with the intercession of Mama Mary, her husband, with all his mighty height and arrogance, suddenly made a sudden turn and showed all signs of remorse thinkable. Well, that was worth a second chance especially that it was an answered prayer from above.

Another healing story is about a cousin whom I really consider as my bestfriend. For a time, I had a falling out with her since she wasn't able to show up at my wedding where she was supposed to be my maid of honor. The reason--- poor boyfriend was in a relationship with another girl, as a result my cousin developed a heart problem and was hospitalized and went through some kind of depression of sorts. She never made an effort to say sorry for not showing up on my special day. But fast-forward to the present, we are the best of friends ever, no one else can surpass that kind of relationship. I understood that breaking up was never an easy thing to accept, I should know, I've been there, done that, hehehe! Now that we have our own families, we share notes, read what's on each other's minds even before we blurt it out, we know each other inside-out. I can only say, time and experience did not only heal her but myself as well. The most important of all is that we prayed for it.

The most unforgettable healing story of all is that of Hubert's former girl. Christmas 2005 was such a memorable day for me since I received the most important gift Baby Jesus gave me which was hearing her manage to create a coversation with me. It was very touching because for me it was a sign that she has been healed and has broken the bondage. I know it took much effort on her part and it was not an easy one knowing that there were other people around who were making such a big deal out of it more than we do. I have been prayer for that moment to come and it came. For that, praise be God! And thank you also :)

The road to healing is such a very long journey. Healing entails with it the ability to accept, forgive, and gain wisdom. From all the stories I shared, there was one common denominator which helped through the process---POWER OF PRAYER. It never fails, we just have to to wait :)

Now let me share with you a song about healing. This has been my favorite since I was in Grade 3 up to now, can you believe that?hehehe

It's in the Paper!!!

Last Saturday, the kids and I tagged along with Mama and Papa and went to their Eastland abode. While Papa was about to park the car, Sunstar's Joshua Cabrera, our neighbor, was so excited as he called on to Papa, " 'Nong Jorge, pagpalit ug SunStar kay naa si Frances sa SunStar Weekend page 4.Kung wala kay copy kay ako ihatag ang ako complimentary copy." Hahaha, as in, ana ka detailed ang info ni Joshua. So off we went to buy the newspaper. And true enough, she was first in line among the flowergirls. It really was in page FOUR in the Weekend Section. This was one of the wedding pictures taken by my brother, Rene, during Dennis and Mawen's wedding in December of 2006. Mawen happens to be Joshua's only sister. Since last Saturday was the last Day of June, a month for most brides marching down the aisle, the SunStar article was, of course, about weddings. I can still remember the preparations we did for the wedding. Imagine, I was only given one week before the wedding to prepare the invitation, contact the caterer, ready myself to be the hostess, and take care of the program. The whole Enriquez family was in full force during the big day. My brother Rene and sis-in law, Jolana took care of the wedding photography, free of charge ha?; Mama and Papa were one of the principal sponsors; Frances was one of the flowergirls; and yours truly was the program hostess. Not to mention that Mama had to make their wedding cake upon learning the night before the wedding that they still don't have a wedding cake, hehehe. So that's the reason why her wedding landed on the local daily for having spent a minimal amount of Php 25,000.00 pesos with 50 guests and reception held at the Eastland Clubhouse. It wasn't a grand wedding, so to say, but one of the best weddings I have ever attended so far. For the reason that it was a very intimate one, with only their family, and close friends witnessing their "I do's" and that "Bayanihan" spirit proved to still exist inspite of the modern world we live in. Everyone in the neighborhood worked hard to make this event possible within just one week preparation,it did happen, and I'm so glad I was part of its success! As in hurray for our teamwork!

And here's our little girl in her one-day-featured-photo in the daily, hehehe...you made mama and papa soooo proud!!!

The best things in life are free, and so are the photoshop brushes I've downloaded last night...yes, they are freakin' free. I'm a newbie when it comes to digital scrapbooking after having spent some years doing the traditional stuff --- collecting, cutting, layouting, blah...blah..blah.... I'm not much of a techie though, but I'm open to learning and unlocking new doors to the world of digital scrapbooking. One advantage I really appreciate is that I can easily upload my digital layouts in my Friendster, Multiply, and my blog, in seconds , yipeeee!!! So here are my works using those free brushes :)

I Love Surprises

My heart melt at his gestures...and everyone in the school's waiting area heard it too. haaay...sweet!!! I love you more Kuya Jeree and Frances!

My kids are so picky on the food they eat, sometimes it really gets me down thinking what to give them. Until this morning morning, they decided for themselves and made a surprise breakfast with the help of their Ate Jade... when I got down, I was so happy to see them doing the preparation, I couldn't resist taking photos of this candid moment...

On a lighter note...

It's lunch time now, my cousin Joyce helps me feed my hungry chikitings who are still busy playing with their new toys courtesy of Mamaloo and Papaloo. Jeremy seems annoyed but he still keeps munching on his food, when he suddenly blurted out..." You villi, (referring to the intestinal villi), please stop asking for food now. Don't be shy, come on..." Wahahaha...I was really amazed at how he delivered his thoughts in such an unconventional way. I know that he really wanted to convey that his stomach is already full and so the villi should stop asking for more, hahahaha. Thanks to the Biology books his Teacher Bernie gave him. My, he is learning fast. Kahilak ko cge katawa and at the same time, amazed and thankful to God that he's given me such a loving and smart little boy.

We Just Got Married!!!...again

I couldn't forget the poem Ninoy Aquino wrote for his wife, Cory, that goes ..."I fell in love with the same woman three times." This was immortalize through Jose Mari Chan who made a song out of it. I never really imagined it would happen to both Hubert and me...at least not this year...not on our 7th wedding anniverssary...we planned to have it on our 10th. WE JUST GOT MARRIED...again!!! Just like the song, we could now officially say, we married each other twice, hehehe...

At first it was just a joke after Frances, our daughter, kept on asking unending questions about why she wasn't invited to Mommy and Daddy's wedding seven years ago. Hello? As if she was already there, hehehe. So earlier during the day, Hubert and I left to buy more the ingredients needed for our small salu-salo later in the night, we told Frances to take a nap and be ready to be our flower girl when we get home.

And true enough, she really wore her white and torquiose gown and dozed off in her bean bag while waiting for us to come home...

Hubert and I brought home this little cake to remind the guests that it's not just a house blessing, its our 7th year of marriage too...to Frances and Jeremy's delight!!!

Father John Anthony Mary of the Cross, my Franciscan-friar-cousin , arrived to officiate the mass in our new home. He was supposed to be the one to officiate our wedding mass had not his ordination been moved from Rome to the Philippines and was later postponed to December 2000 so he was not able to make it to our April 2000 wedding. Anyway, we mentioned to him that Frances still thinks we are getting married that afternoon because there was a wedding cake and she was going to be the flower girl, hehehe. Father John, welcomed the idea and said, " Why not? You will say your I do's. Why don't you go up and change into any white outfit." In a flash, Hubert and I went down wearing white upper, far off from what we originally wore...orange polo for Hubert, blue spaghetti and white bolero for me, hehehe...

" I do...I do... I really, really do!!! "

Seriously, it was such a big blessing not only for hubert and me but for the whole family as well. It was such an unforgettable experience for us. Most of all, we love the way it was held solemnly and witnessed only by our families and a few friends. Thank you very much and see you around :)
